Point Wilson Lighthouse and Mt. Baker – Port Townsend, WA

The Point Wilson Light is an active aid to navigation located in Fort Worden State Park near Port Townsend, Washington. It is one of the most important navigational aids in the state, overlooking the entrance to Admiralty Inlet, the waterway connecting the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Puget Sound. On the occasional clear day you can see snow-capped Mt. Baker from the Point Wilson Lighthouse. While nearby the sky would often clear, especially near sunset, I had to wait for several days for the skies to clear enough to include Mt. Baker in the distance. Late in the afternoon on this day I was blessed with clear skies during the "golden hour" making for the perfect shot.
The photographer produced this image with an 16:9 aspect ratio to offer a faithful reproduction of the original scene. The size options available maintain this aspect ratio without cropping during the printing process.
Contact us for details on printing this image as a wide landscape triptych. As the name implies, a triptych is composed of three images. In this case, the wide landscape is composed and printed from three narrower "slices" of the original image which are then printed as three separate panels. None of the image is lost in the process. The entire image is there, it just spans across the three narrower panels. We recommend this approach for certain wide landscape images.
Triptychs prints of very wide images (such as this one) offer significant advantages to you:
Much easier handling and wall mounting for the user
Significantly lower overall cost – mounted prints, metal prints and acrylic prints 48" or longer require special packaging and insurance for UPS shipping. Printing cost is also lower for smaller prints.
