Capitol Reef National Park is one of the least-visited National Parks in the lower 48 states. However, the stark desert scenery keeps me coming back. This particular panorama is why. I really like how a black and white print heightens the drama of a scene just after a storm.

There is a color panorama from this exact vantage point taken two years prior. Different weather, different mood. Each has it's own special qualities. Check out the color landscape gallery to see the difference.

I have taken panoramic photographs from this exact location many times over the years. The varied sky, weather and light make each visit a unique opportunity for yet another dramatic image. The photographer has produced this image with 11:5 aspect ratio to offer a faithful reproduction of the original scene. The size options available maintain this aspect ratio without cropping during the printing process.

In this case, the wide landscape is composed and printed from three narrower "slices" of the original image which are then printed as three separate panels. None of the image is lost in the process. The entire image is there, it just spans across the three narrower panels. We recommend this approach for certain wide landscape images.
