The bald eagle is the emblem of our nation. Most of the time they are watching for an opportunity to score their next meal. Occasionally, you can get one of these guys to sit still long enough to allow for a good composition. This was taken along the Salmon River near Salmon, ID and he remained perched in the tree scanning the nearby river for a fish. He sat there long enough for me to set up with my long telephoto and a tripod to capture the eagle with the moon just peeking out from behind some tree branches. Often times when taking wildlife photos it is just a matter of being lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time – and being prepared.
