Print & Media Options Explained
Photo Print Media Choices
We offer two customer-selectable media choices for photographic prints. Whichever choice you make, be assured these are recognized best-of-breed printing methods for the highest quality photographic prints available.
Metal Print Media Choice
Made by infusing dyes directly into specially coated aluminum sheets, MetalPrints™ are applauded by photographers and artists everywhere for their intense luminescence.
You've never seen a more brilliant and impressive print! Colors are vibrant and the radiance is breathtaking. The waterproof, scratch-resistant surface makes MetalPrints™ a hygienic and durable medium.
Color or Black and White prints on metal have three choices for finish: satin, mid-gloss and high gloss.
- Satin metal offers a smooth, very even and soft appearance with minimal glare.
- Mid-gloss metal has similar color intensity and detail as our high gloss option, but with reduced glare.
- High gloss metal has brilliant whites and a high gloss surface for unsurpassed detail and vibrance. Our most popular surface.
Metal Print Finishing Options
You can select a metal print with two corner options:
- Square corners.
- A subtle 1/8” rounded corner. We recommend rounded corners for display in areas where people may be close to or seated underneath the MetalPrints™.
Metal Print Hanging Options
Two hanging options are available:
- Float Hanger – Prints from 4” x 4” (min) to 30” x 40” (max) size, a 1/2” float mount hangar.
- Inset Frame Hanger – Prints from 8” x 8” (min) to 48” x 96” (max) size, a 3/4” inset frame with wire. This option offers the most secure method for hanging MetalPrints™ and insures they will stay level when using 2 hooks to attach the wire to the wall.
Prints on Archival-Grade Fine Art Paper Media Choice
- Color Prints – color photographs are printed on Moab Entrada Bright Rag, an acid-free 100% cotton bright white printing paper that has a smooth matte finish and excellent color reproduction characteristics.
- Black and White Prints – black and white photographs are printed on Canson® Infinity Platine Fiber Rag, an acid-free 100% cotton bright white printing paper that has a semi-gloss texture and is our favorite for making black & white prints that look like they came out of the darkroom.
- Print Style Option – Unless the Framing Option is selected (see below), fine art prints are produced either:
- Borderless (i.e. image covers entire print surface).
- 1” white border. The 1” border option increases the size of the print 2” in overall width and height which also affects the final price. Prints with borders can range in size from 8” x 8” (min) to 38” x 78” (max) size.
Framed With Mat Option (Fine Art Paper Prints Only)
You can choose to have us mat and frame your photograph printed on fine art paper. We offer a simple flat black “box” wood frame with a 3” wide mat that will provide an elegant minimalist staging of your fine art photograph.
NOTE: Framing is only available for fine art prints from 5” x 5” (min) to 24” x 32” (max) size.
- Frame dimensions are: 1-1/8” wide with a 3/4” depth profile.
- Mat boards are acid-free and feature a non-yellowing pure white core and bevel. Mats resist fading and yellowing made from refined cellulose (wood) fiber, buffered with Calcium Carbonate, which creates a pH-neutral core. This is often called a “Conservation-Grade” mat board, not to be confused with “Museum-Quality” mat board. Mats are attached to the mounted prints on the outside of the image area using "ATG" tape (a double-sided tape) and will cover approximately 1/8” of the image all -around.
- All framed prints come with low reflectance acrylic “glass” and wire hanging system installed on the back.
